Château Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé Sauternes 2013 (37.5cl)
£33.45
The wine
The Grand Vin of a Sauternes First Growth, a wine of real pedigree. Orange peel and mineral notes on the nose lead to a voluptuous palate full of almonds, spice, honey and candied fruits through a lovely, lingering finish. One of the benchmarks of the appellation, in a civilised 37.5cl half.
The producer
Château Suduiraut
View all Château Suduiraut winesChâteau Suduiraut is a First Growth of the 1855 Sauternes classification, at Preignac, and one of the greatest sweet-wine estates on earth. Its neighbour, across a hedge, is Château d'Yquem itself.
The botrytised Semillon here produces wines of extraordinary richness and finesse. Castelnau de Suduiraut is the second wine, an accessible introduction to the house; the Grand Vin is one of the benchmarks of the appellation. Both come here in the sensible 37.5cl half.
