Domaine de Coyeux Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise Solera NV

The wine
A deliciously sweet wine, with aromatic notes of ripe tropical fruits, complemented by fragrant, fresh fruits and smoky overtones. Rich, smooth and sweet on the palate, beautifully balanced by freshness and elegance. Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise is a vin doux naturel, fortified partway through fermentation so that natural sweetness remains. This one is aged by solera, a fractional blending system more usually associated with sherry, which builds depth that a single vintage cannot. The estate runs to 130 hectares in one block at 260 to 300 metres, HVE certified and converting to organic.

Domaine de Coyeux
View all Domaine de Coyeux winesDomaine de Coyeux occupies a spectacular single block of 130 hectares in the hills of Beaumes-de-Venise. The estate was established in 1950 and has been in the hands of Arnaud and Isabelle Strasser since 2020.The vines sit between 260 and 300 metres, on ancient soils from one of the very rare Trias outcrops of the Comtadine. The estate is HVE certified and converting to organic certification, and winemaker Clement Bernardi combines traditional vinification with contemporary methods.
Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise is one of France's great fortified sweet wines, and the solera bottling here carries the depth that only a fractional blending system can give.
