Pelee Island Vidal Icewine 2023 (37.5cl)
£48.75
The wine
True Canadian Icewine from Vidal grapes frozen naturally on the vine in the Lake Erie winter. Lusciously sweet and smooth, with rich, concentrated apricot and peach, orange zest, dried apricot and fig, all balanced by bright acidity. One of the world's great dessert wines; pour small, sip slowly, serve with tarte tatin, foie gras or a wedge of blue. 37.5cl bottle.

Pelee Island
View all Pelee Island winesPelee Island is Canada's largest independent winery and its largest estate vineyard, 600 acres in the western basin of Lake Erie on the country's southernmost inhabited tip of land. Home to over 10,000 indigenous species, the island is the environmental pride of Canada.
It is also, surprisingly, warm: below the 41st parallel, as far south as Mendocino, Rome and Madrid, with a growing season more than fifty days longer than mainland Canada. That warmth ripens the grapes; the Canadian winter then makes the magic, freezing Vidal berries on the vine for one of the world's benchmark Icewines. Luscious, concentrated and beautifully balanced, it is the taste of a Canadian winter with none of the frostbite.
