Graeme and Julie Bott have become one of the northern Rhône's most talked-about young domaines. Graeme is from New Zealand, Julie a native of the northern Rhône; they met working at Domaine Ogier, one of the leading names in Côte-Rôtie.
The domaine came about by happy accident. On buying their first house they discovered that its garden sat on the hillside of Verin, within prime Condrieu appellation, and the estate grew from there. They now farm ten hectares across Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and the little-known Seyssuel.
They remain boutique producers in the truest sense. The first vintages were made in a neighbour's garage; they now have their own cellar, tucked just beneath La Mouline in Côte-Rôtie. The wines are handcrafted, nuanced and increasingly hard to find.
