Sebastien Vaillant Valencay 2025
£14.25
The wine
Expressive, with intense lychees, peach and apricot, and white peach on the palate.
Valençay is the westernmost of the central Loire appellations, continuing east through Touraine towards Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre, and it grows its Sauvignon Blanc on clay and flint soils. It won appellation status only in 2004 and remains almost unknown outside France, which is much of the reason the wines stay so affordable. Sébastien Vaillant farms there.

View all Sébastien Vaillant winesSebastien Vaillant is a small, quality-focused grower in the Valencay appellation of the eastern Loire, an under-the-radar source of crisp, aromatic and superb-value wines. His bottlings offer classic Loire character with real integrity.
The vineyards lie on the flinty, clay-limestone soils of Valencay, ideal for Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Chardonnay. Careful farming and clean winemaking preserve the wines vibrant fruit and mineral freshness.
The range centres on a bright, dry Valencay white, all citrus, green apple and stony minerality, a wonderfully food-friendly everyday Loire.
Fresh, honest and keenly priced, Sebastien Vaillant is a lovely discovery for lovers of crisp French white.
