Les Embruns Grain de Sable Rosé Sable de Camargue NV

The wine
Pale crystalline pink in colour, this organic rosé delivers intense aromas of wild strawberries and juicy white peach. Light and refreshing with great purity of fruit and a crisp bite of salinity on the finish. The vines grow directly in sand on the Mediterranean shore. Phylloxera cannot travel through sand, so many vines here still stand on their own roots.
The producer
Les Embruns
View all Les Embruns winesThe windswept land of the Camargue, between the sea and the salt marshes, is home to eleven growers who came together to form Les Embruns. The name translates as sea spray, which suits the wild character of the place.
Respect for the fragile ecosystem is built into how they farm here. The vines grow directly in sand on the Mediterranean shore, in the delta where the Rhône meets the sea, and sand has one great advantage: phylloxera cannot travel through it, so many vines still stand on their own roots rather than grafted rootstock. The wines are pale, saline and made for the table rather than the cellar.
