La Chablisienne is the great cooperative of Chablis, founded in 1923 and now representing around three hundred growers farming roughly a quarter of the entire appellation. That scale would mean mediocrity almost anywhere else; here it means access to an extraordinary spread of parcels across every level of the hierarchy.

The winemaking is serious, the Premiers Crus genuinely site-specific, and the house has long been regarded as one of the most reliable names in the region. Proof that a cooperative, properly run, can make wine to shame many a domaine.
