Devaux Coeur des Bar Rosé Champagne NV
£44.75
The wine
Complex, with very fine bubbles and a creamy mouthfeel: raspberry, strawberry and hazelnut.
Coeur des Bar is the estate range from the heart of the appellation. Rosé Champagne is usually made by blending a little red wine into the base before the second fermentation, which gives more control over colour than skin contact would. The Côte des Bar lies nearer to Chablis than to Reims and sits on the same Kimmeridgian limestone. It supplies a large share of the Pinot Noir that goes into the great houses further north, and has only recently begun to be taken seriously in its own right.

Devaux
View all Devaux winesChampagne Devaux is a distinguished house based in the Côte des Bar, the southernmost and increasingly celebrated corner of Champagne. Founded in 1846 and now led by the Union Auboise, it draws on a wealth of grower vineyards in this Pinot Noir heartland. Its wines marry scale with a real sense of terroir.
The Côte des Bar, closer to Chablis than to Reims, is prized for its powerful, fruit-driven Pinot Noir grown on Kimmeridgian limestone. Devaux builds its blends around this rich base, adding Chardonnay for finesse. Long ageing on the lees is central to the house style.
In the cellar, Devaux is known for extended maturation, especially in its flagship D range, aged five years or more. This lees ageing gives the wines their depth, creaminess and toasty complexity. Precision and patience define every cuvée.
From the classic Grande Réserve to the refined, long-aged Cuvée D and vintage Millésimé, Devaux offers Champagne of real character and value. Rich, complex and beautifully made, these are wines for celebration and the table alike.
