Whitewolfe Estates KC4 Chardonnay 2023

The wine
Remarkable energy and minerality, with complex Amalfi lemon, flint and struck match.
KC4 is the leaner and more mineral of the pair, made alongside KC2 from the same vineyard so the two clones can be compared directly. The flint and struck-match character comes from reductive handling, keeping the wine away from oxygen through fermentation and ageing. Whitewolfe Estates work a south-facing vineyard whose microclimate protects it against heat spikes, so the fruit ripens steadily rather than in bursts.

Kent's chalk and clay soils and long, gentle growing season give the fruit its bright acidity and finesse. Small parcels are handled with care to preserve freshness and detail rather than chase weight.
The KC2 and KC4 Chardonnays are the estate's calling cards, cool-climate whites of citrus, minerality and quiet elegance that reward the attentive drinker.
Fresh, refined and proudly English, these are wines that show just how far the country's winemaking has come. Discover the poise of Kent Chardonnay.
