Simpsons Derringstone Pinot Meunier 2023
£19.25
The wine
A rare thing: still, white Pinot Meunier. Pale gold tinged with delicate pink, exquisite orchard pear and apple dancing with white floral blossom through a luxuriously mouth-filling texture and bright finish. One for the collector and the curious.
The producer
Simpsons Wine Estate
View all Simpsons Wine Estate winesCharles and Ruth Simpson had been making award-winning wine in the South of France since 2002 when, in 2012, they brought that expertise home, drawn by the quality of the terroir and the chance to join one of the most dynamic wine regions in the world.
They planted 30 hectares on the iconic chalk of the North Downs above Barham in Kent and built a state-of-the-art winery. The first harvest came in 2016; the acclaim followed almost immediately.
The range is exclusively estate-grown, with a strong focus on provenance: still Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from named parcels, Gravel Castle, Roman Road, Rabbit Hole, Railway Hill and Derringstone, alongside the Chalklands, White Cliffs and Flint Fields sparkling wines.
