Shaw + Smith Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2022
£28.75
The wine
Complex, aromatic and medium-bodied, with silky tannins and long-term ageing potential. Intense flavours of black fruit.
Predominantly from the high, cool Lenswood vineyard. The Adelaide Hills sit several hundred metres above the plains and are among the coolest regions in South Australia, which is why they grow Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot where the Barossa below grows Shiraz. Pinot Noir needs that cold to keep its structure and perfume, and Lenswood at 500 metres is among the higher plantings in the state. Shaw + Smith own vineyards at Balhannah, Lenswood and Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills, founded in 1989 by the cousins Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw.
