The wine

Rosa Ruiz is bottled from Albariño alone rather than the blend, and is named for a daughter of the family.

Rías Baixas is the wettest and greenest corner of Spain, on the Atlantic in Galicia, where Albariño is trained high on granite pergolas to keep fruit off damp ground and let air move through. It is the same grape as Portuguese Alvarinho. Santiago Ruiz was one of the estates that made Rías Baixas known beyond Galicia, and its label carries a hand-drawn map made for a family wedding.

Santiago Ruiz is a historic and much-loved estate in the O Rosal sub-zone of Rías Baixas, celebrated for pioneering the aromatic white blends of Galicia. Its wines, with their famous hand-drawn map label, are a benchmark of the region.

Set close to the Portuguese border, the vineyards enjoy an Atlantic-influenced climate ideal for Albariño and a suite of local white grapes. Careful farming and precise winemaking preserve the wines vivid aromatics and fresh, saline character.

The range centres on the classic O Rosal blend of Albariño with Loureiro, Treixadura, Godello and Caino Blanco, alongside a pure varietal Albariño, both fragrant and beautifully suited to seafood.
