Domaine Ogereau Vent de Spilite Anjou 2024
£30.45
The wine
A precise and elegant Chenin. Bright citrus fruits on the nose complemented by subtle depth.
Vent de Spilite is named for the spilite, a green volcanic rock found in the Anjou Noir, the dark schist country south of the Loire that gives these wines their mineral edge. Chenin Blanc is the great white grape of Anjou and one of the most versatile in the world, capable of everything from bone dry to intensely sweet, and it keeps a searing acidity whatever the ripeness. Its Anjou home is schist and volcanic rock rather than the limestone of the eastern Loire.
