Greywacke Marlborough Pinot Gris 2024
£21.75
The wine
Peaches and cream, vanilla pod and brown sugar over a rich bouquet of Turkish delight. The palate is lively.
From three vineyards, two on the central Wairau Plains and one elsewhere. Pinot Gris has pink-grey skins, and the richness here comes from ripeness and lees work rather than from residual sugar. Greywacke is Kevin Judd label, named for the river stones in the Wairau Plains soils. He was the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 years before starting it in 2009.

View all Greywacke winesGreywacke is the acclaimed Marlborough estate of Kevin Judd, the founding winemaker of Cloudy Bay and one of New Zealand's most respected names. Named for the region's river stones, it crafts benchmark Sauvignon Blanc and beyond. The wines are among Marlborough's very best.
The grapes come from mature vineyards across the Wairau and Southern Valleys, farmed with care and picked at optimal ripeness. Cool nights and stony soils give the wines their vivid fruit and freshness. Judd's decades of experience show in every bottle.
The range runs from the classic, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc to the wild-fermented, barrel-aged Wild Sauvignon, alongside fine Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Older Archive Release vintages show how beautifully the wines age. Each is pure, textured and expressive.
Greywacke's wines combine Marlborough's signature freshness with real depth and craft. They are elegant, food-friendly and consistently outstanding. A benchmark of New Zealand wine.
