Greywacke Marlborough Botrytis Pinot Gris 2025 (37.5cl)
£21.95
The wine
Botrytis Pinot Gris is an unusual thing even in Marlborough, where noble rot is far more often caught on Riesling. Picked late and affected by botrytis cinerea, it comes in a 37.5cl half bottle at 13%, under screwcap.
Greywacke was founded in 2009 by Kevin Judd, who had been chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay from its inception for twenty-five years and was instrumental in the international standing Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc enjoys today. He took the name from his first Marlborough vineyard at Rapaura, for the rounded greywacke river stones that fill its soils, a sedimentary rock found widely across the region. Judd is also New Zealand's finest wine photographer and published The Landscape of New Zealand Wine.

Greywacke
View all Greywacke winesGreywacke is the acclaimed Marlborough estate of Kevin Judd, the founding winemaker of Cloudy Bay and one of New Zealand's most respected names. Named for the region's river stones, it crafts benchmark Sauvignon Blanc and beyond. The wines are among Marlborough's very best.
The grapes come from mature vineyards across the Wairau and Southern Valleys, farmed with care and picked at optimal ripeness. Cool nights and stony soils give the wines their vivid fruit and freshness. Judd's decades of experience show in every bottle.
The range runs from the classic, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc to the wild-fermented, barrel-aged Wild Sauvignon, alongside fine Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Older Archive Release vintages show how beautifully the wines age. Each is pure, textured and expressive.
Greywacke's wines combine Marlborough's signature freshness with real depth and craft. They are elegant, food-friendly and consistently outstanding. A benchmark of New Zealand wine.
