Domaine Sautereau Sancerre Rosé 2025

The wine
Sancerre Rosé is Pinot Noir pressed early with minimal skin contact, and it accounts for a small fraction of an appellation almost entirely known for its Sauvignon Blanc.
Sancerre sits at the eastern end of the Loire on three soil types: terres blanches, the Kimmeridgian marl shared with Chablis; caillottes, shallow limestone gravel; and silex, flint. Sauvignon Blanc grown on each tastes distinctly different, which is why lieu-dit bottlings matter here. The same limestone that gives the whites their cut keeps this dry and precise rather than soft. Domaine Sautereau is run by David Sautereau at Crézancy in the northern reaches of Sancerre.

View all Domaine Sautereau winesIn the hilltop village of Crézancy, in the heart of Sancerre, Domaine Sautereau is a family estate of long standing. Generations have tended these steep Loire slopes, farming the flint, limestone, and clay soils that define the appellation. The focus here is on classic, expressive Sancerre.
Sautereau works with care and tradition, capturing the crisp, mineral purity that makes Sancerre so celebrated. Both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are given their due, in white, rosé, and red. The style is fresh, precise, and true to type.
The range spans zesty village Sancerre, elegant rosé and red, and a characterful old-vine cuvée. Each shows a different face of this beloved Loire appellation.
To pour a Sautereau wine is to taste Sancerre in classic form. Flinty, fresh, and endlessly food-friendly, these are wines for the table and the good life.
