Domaine Lafage Les Sardines Chardonnay 2025
£9.45
The wine
A refreshing, full-flavoured Chardonnay with enticing notes of white peach, layered with mineral tones of crushed stone and a subtle hint of spice. Beautifully textured with a lasting finish. Les Sardines is Lafage's entry range, named and labelled for the fishing tradition of the Catalan coast.
The producer
Domaine Lafage
View all Domaine Lafage winesDomaine Lafage lies between Perpignan and the Spanish border in the Cotes Catalanes, run by Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage since 2001. Before settling back in the Roussillon they spent years harvesting and making wine in South America, California, South Africa and Germany, and it shows in the range.
Winemaking here goes back to 1798. The landscape is dry, windy and rugged, and for over a decade the Roussillon has been meeting the full force of climate change head on. Lafage have responded by rebuilding how they farm: regenerative agriculture, close water monitoring, and picking earlier to hold onto natural freshness. That freshness is the signature. These are wines from a hot place that do not taste heavy.
