Domaine Borgeot Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2024
£84.25
The wine
Huge complexity on the nose, with citrus, herbs and a dusty mineral note. Good acidity balances the richness of the body on the palate.
Vieilles Vignes means old vines, and there is no legal definition of the term in France, so it rests on the grower honesty. Older vines yield less and root deeper, which concentrates the fruit. 2024 was a difficult year of constant mildew pressure, saved by favourable sunshine in late August. Hand harvested and sorted twice.

Domaine Borgeot
View all Domaine Borgeot winesDomaine Borgeot is a family estate based at Remigny, on the border of Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet in the southern Côte de Beaune. Run by brothers who farm and buy from prime parcels, it has built a name for polished, keenly priced white Burgundy. Both grower and négociant, it draws on some fine addresses.
The domaine works Chardonnay across the great white villages of Puligny, Chassagne and Santenay, with Pinot Noir for its reds. The limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune give the whites their minerality and cut. Careful farming and sourcing keep quality high across the range.
In the cellar, classical winemaking and measured oak ageing produce wines of freshness and finesse. The whites are taut and mineral, the reds fragrant and supple, all true to their appellations. Balance guides every cuvée.
From an everyday Bourgogne Blanc to premier cru Puligny and Chassagne, Borgeot offers the Côte de Beaune across the board. Precise, elegant and fairly priced, these are wines for lovers of white Burgundy.
