Domaine de la Bégude Bandol Rosé 2024

The wine
An aromatic bouquet of fresh raspberry and blackcurrant intermingled with citrus and floral notes.
Bandol rosé is the most serious rosé in France and the only one widely held to reward a few years in bottle, because Mourvèdre gives it real structure. Bandol is the great Mourvèdre appellation of Provence, a natural amphitheatre of restanques, terraces cut into limestone slopes above the Mediterranean. The rules demand at least half Mourvèdre and eighteen months in wood for the reds, which is why they age far better than most southern French wine.

Domaine de la Bégude
View all Domaine de la Bégude winesHigh in the hills above Bandol, in Provence, Domaine de la Bégude is one of the appellation finest estates. Set on a remote plateau of limestone and clay, it farms organically at altitude, where cool nights preserve freshness. Mourvèdre is the heart and soul of everything here.
The family tends old vines with real devotion, harvesting late to capture the grape power and perfume. Traditional winemaking and patient ageing give reds of structure and depth, and rosés of rare seriousness. The style is pure, mineral, and built to last.
The range spans age-worthy Bandol reds, one of Provence greatest rosés, and characterful IGP cuvées. Each carries the wild, herbal signature of this dramatic hillside.
To pour a de la Bégude wine is to taste Provence at its most profound. Structured, mineral, and utterly distinctive, these are wines for those who love true Mourvèdre.
