Château Durfort-Vivens Les Plantes Margaux 2019
£38.25
The wine
Les Plantes is a Margaux from young-vine parcels of Durfort-Vivens, made in the same biodynamic spirit as the grand vin. Cabernet-led and gently aged for early appeal.
Bright cassis and red cherry meet a floral, cedary lift. The palate is supple and fresh, with fine tannins and the perfume that marks true Margaux. Approachable yet refined.
A lovely match for roast lamb, duck or hard cheese. Serve at cool room temperature.

Château Durfort-Vivens
View all Château Durfort-Vivens winesChâteau Durfort-Vivens is a Second Growth of Margaux, classified in 1855 and long counted among the appellation's aristocracy. Its name unites two old estates, and its history reaches back to the earliest days of the Médoc's greatness. Few Margaux châteaux carry so much heritage.
Since the Lurton family took the reins, the estate has become a leader in biodynamic viticulture, one of the first classified growths to farm this way. The vineyards lie on deep Margaux gravel, worked without chemicals to let the terroir speak. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates, as the appellation demands.
In the cellar, precision rules. Parcels are vinified separately, fermentations kept gentle, and ageing in French oak measured to preserve the fruit's purity. The house style favours elegance and perfume over sheer power, the hallmark of fine Margaux.
Durfort-Vivens offers the silk and fragrance for which Margaux is famed, now with the vitality that biodynamics brings. From the grand vin to the approachable second wines, these are clarets of real breeding, built to grace the finest tables and reward the cellar.
