Château Durfort-Vivens

5 wines

Château Durfort-Vivens is a Second Growth of Margaux, classified in 1855 and long counted among the appellation's aristocracy. Its name unites two old estates, and its history reaches back to the earliest days of the Médoc's greatness. Few Margaux châteaux carry so much heritage. Since the Lurton family took the reins, the estate has become a leader in biodynamic viticulture, one of the first classified growths to farm this way. The vineyards lie on deep Margaux gravel, worked without chemicals to let the terroir speak. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates, as the appellation demands. In the cellar, precision rules. Parcels are vinified separately, fermentations kept gentle, and ageing in French oak measured to preserve the fruit's purity. The house style favours elegance and perfume over sheer power, the hallmark of fine Margaux. Durfort-Vivens offers the silk and fragrance for which Margaux is famed, now with the vitality that biodynamics brings. From the grand vin to the approachable second wines, these are clarets of real breeding, built to grace the finest tables and reward the cellar.
