Château du Haut Plateau Montagne Saint-Émilion 2020
£15.25
The wine
Stylish and deliciously approachable, with wonderful purity of fruit; ample plum and wild berries offer lovely balance to the supple, rounded palate. Montagne Saint-Émilion at its most persuasive, and considerably cheaper than the name across the boundary.

Château du Haut Plateau
View all Château du Haut Plateau winesChâteau du Haut Plateau sits on the high plateau of Montagne Saint-Émilion, the largest and arguably the finest of the satellite appellations north of Saint-Émilion proper. The clay-limestone soils here are close cousins of those on the famous plateau itself, and the wines share much of the character at a fraction of the price. Merlot leads, as it should on this side of the river, giving a plump, approachable style with real purity of fruit.
