The wine

Vintage 2000 has a ripe and generous nose, with warm notes of brioche and pastry blending with bergamot and stone fruit. The palate is vibrant and direct, a prelude to a richness that is more tactile than fleshy and reveals itself gradually. The finish carries a noble bitterness alongside roasted flavours.

Palmer & Co was founded in Reims in 1947 by a group of seven grower families, and its heart is the Premier and Grand Cru vineyards of the Montagne de Reims. The Collection series is the house’s library: vintage Champagnes held back for many years on their lees in chalk cellars 18 metres below Reims, then released in very small quantities. This 2000 is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and arrives fully mature, with the depth that only two decades in the cellar can bring. Sold as a single bottle.

The producer

Founded in 1947 and established in Reims, Palmer & Co is rooted in the greatest terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, with over 200 hectares classified Premier and Grand Cru.

Dominated by the freshness and purity of Chardonnay, the Palmer style is characterised by precision and elegance. The house holds unusually deep reserves of old wine, which lends the non-vintage cuvees a depth many houses reserve for their prestige bottlings. The Rosé Solera is a particular curiosity, built on a perpetual reserve begun decades ago, and Amazone de Palmer is the house at full stretch.

These are the quantities the producer boxes them in, usually 6 or 12 but could be 1, 2, 3 or 4. To save storage costs of part-boxes, we only sell in the original producer defined quantity, which ultimately means you save money.
