Cantina Colli Euganei Prosecco Spumante Extra Dry
£14.45
The wine
Straw yellow with youthful hues and a fine, persistent mousse. Fresh on the nose.
Extra Dry is, confusingly, sweeter than Brut: 12 to 17g of sugar per litre against Brut 12 or less. It is the traditional Prosecco dosage and suits the grape orchard fruit. Prosecco is made by the tank method rather than the traditional method, with the second fermentation in a sealed vessel rather than the bottle, which keeps the wine fresh and grapey rather than building the bready character of Champagne.

Cantina Colli Euganei
View all Cantina Colli Euganei winesIn the volcanic Euganean Hills south of Padua, where warm springs rise and vines climb old lava slopes, Cantina Colli Euganei makes bright, characterful sparkling wine. It is one of the Veneto's loveliest and least-known corners, a place of thermal spas, hilltop villages and a light that seems made for fizz.
The grape here is Glera, the variety behind all great Prosecco, grown on mineral-rich volcanic soils that lend the wines real freshness. Made by the gentle Charmat method, they capture Glera at its most fragrant, all orchard fruit and lively bubbles.
From the softly sparkling Frizzante to the fully sparkling Spumante, these are approachable, joyful wines built for easy occasions. They ask nothing of you but a chilled glass and good company.
Pour them well chilled as an aperitif, or bring them to the table whenever the moment calls for a lift, and let the bubbles do the rest.
