Wild Garden Pinotage 2025
£8.95
The wine
A smooth and juicy Pinotage from South Africa's signature variety, delivering vibrant fruity notes of bright plummy and brambly fruit through to a lively finish.
Pinotage was created in 1925 by crossing Pinot Noir with Cinsault, and it is grown almost nowhere outside South Africa. It spent decades with a poor reputation earned by over-extraction, and has been rehabilitated by producers treating it gently. Expect dark bramble fruit and a characteristic smoky edge.

Wild Garden
View all Wild Garden winesWild Garden is a Cape label working Chenin Blanc and Pinotage from Western Cape and Cape Coast vineyards.
The name is apt for South Africa. The Cape Floral Kingdom is the smallest and richest of the world's six floral kingdoms, with more plant species in a small corner of one country than in the whole of Europe, and vineyards across the Cape sit within or beside it. Fynbos, the scrubland that dominates it, grows right up to many vine rows.
Chenin Blanc came from the Loire in the seventeenth century and is South Africa's most planted white; Pinotage was created in 1925 by crossing Pinot Noir with Cinsault and is grown almost nowhere else. Between them they are the most South African pair of grapes it is possible to put in a case.
