The wine

Juicy notes of wild blackberry, raspberry and blackcurrant envelop a soft and beautifully balanced palate with a black cherry compote finish. Les Infusions is a lighter range at around 8.5% alcohol, made from Floreal and Monarch, two new disease-resistant crossings that need little or no spraying. A genuinely modern answer to lower-strength drinking, rather than a de-alcoholised wine.

Villa Noria is the work of two friends, Fabien Gross and Cedric Arnaud, who grew up among vines in the Languedoc and Alsace respectively. What they inherited from their winemaking families was less a business than an attitude: enthusiasm, ethics and a deep respect for the land.

The estate sits a short distance from the Mediterranean, between Pezenas and Montagnac. The vines are organic and HVE Level 3 certified, farmed in step with the surrounding landscape rather than against it, and the winemaking is deliberately traditional, without chemical additions and with only low doses of sulphur.

The range stretches further than most. The Amfora and Basic Instinct bottlings are made with no added sulphur at all, and the Levin 0% line offers a genuinely well-made zero-alcohol option, which is rarer than it sounds.
