Villa Gutenberg Johannisberger Erntebringer Riesling Kabinett 2025
£10.95
The wine
A lively and delicate off-dry wine with a slight pu00e9tillance and a heady sensation of apple, pear, peach and honey on the nose. Beautifully balanced with a fruity palate of citrus fruit and floral nuances.
Kabinett is the lightest of the Pru00e4dikat levels, from grapes picked at normal ripeness, and at 9 per cent this carries far more flavour than the alcohol suggests. Johannisberger Erntebringer is a Grosslage, a collective vineyard name covering several sites around the village of Johannisberg in the Rheingau. Erntebringer means bringer of the harvest.
The producer
Villa Gutenberg
View all Villa Gutenberg winesVilla Gutenberg is an eighteen-hectare family estate on the banks of the Rhine in the Rheingau, with vineyards running from Rüdesheim to Hochheim across the length of the region.
The Rheingau is small but historically the most important wine region in Germany. It occupies the one stretch where the Rhine turns and flows east to west for some thirty kilometres, so the entire south-facing slope catches the sun while the broad river reflects light and moderates the temperature. Riesling accounts for around four fifths of the plantings.
The estate works a range of slope angles, soils and microclimates, and the wines are presented in the traditional Rheingau flute. Johannisberger Erntebringer is one of the region's Grosslagen, a collective vineyard name covering several sites around the village of Johannisberg.
