Villa di Trefiano Carmignano Riserva 2021
£50.95
The wine
Deep ruby red. Refined cherry and raspberry mingling with herbal notes and spice.
Carmignano sits 24 kilometres north-west of Florence and is one of the oldest delimited wine areas anywhere, granted protected status by Cosimo III de Medici in 1716. Uniquely in Tuscany its rules have permitted Cabernet in the blend for centuries, long before the Super Tuscans made the idea fashionable. The villa was built by the architect Buontalenti.

Part of the Contini Bonacossi family's celebrated Capezzana estate, it produces a single, distinguished wine.
The hillside vineyards enjoy a favourable aspect and well-drained soils, farmed to give fruit of concentration and finesse. Carmignano's historic blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet is the estate's signature.
The Carmignano Riserva is a structured, dark-fruited red of real depth and grace, built to reward years in the cellar and a fine table.
Historic, elegant and built to age, this is Tuscan tradition at its most refined. Discover the noble reds of Carmignano.
