Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2021
£21.75
The wine
Deep, vibrant crimson. Wild raspberry, blackberry and black pepper predominate, with hints of vanilla bean. Savoury and spicy on the palate.
Syrah is what the Gimblett Gravels has become famous for, and the style sits closer to the northern Rhône than to Australia: peppery, medium-bodied and savoury rather than jammy. From the estate Tin Shed and Gimblett Stones vineyards. The Gimblett Gravels is an 800-hectare district defined strictly by its soil, deep river gravels left exposed when the Ngaruroro river shifted course in an 1867 flood. It is one of very few appellations anywhere drawn by geology rather than by boundary lines on a map.

Trinity Hill
View all Trinity Hill winesTrinity Hill is one of the defining names of Hawke's Bay and a pioneer of the Gimblett Gravels, the warm, free-draining district that has become New Zealand's finest home for Syrah and Bordeaux varieties. The estate helped prove what this remarkable terroir could do.
From its Hawke's Bay range of bright, accessible wines to the concentrated Gimblett Gravels bottlings, Trinity Hill farms with an eye for both freshness and ripeness, drawing structure and spice from the sun-warmed stones.
The Gimblett Gravels Syrah and the flagship Homage are benchmarks of the New World for this grape, peppery and profound, while The Gimblett red and the 125 Chardonnay show the estate's range. The Hawke's Bay wines offer the same craft in a more immediate style.
Ambitious, age-worthy and proudly of their place, these are wines that put a region on the world map. Discover the estate that helped define the Gimblett Gravels.
