The wine

Golden in colour, with a fresh perfume of acacia flowers and citrus fruit. The palate has real richness.

Garganega is the grape of Soave, late-ripening with high acidity and a faintly bitter almond finish, grown here in the hills around Verona rather than in the Soave zone proper. DNA testing has shown it to be the same variety as Sicily Grecanico Dorato, which is a long way for a grape to travel. Torre del Falasco is the label of Cantina Valpantena, the co-operative of the Valpantena valley just north of Verona.

In the Valpantena valley north of Verona, one of Valpolicella's finest side-valleys, Cantina Valpantena crafts its Torre del Falasco range. This is classic Veneto red country, the home of Corvina and the great wines of Valpolicella, from fresh everyday reds to the mighty Amarone.
