Three Lions Great Southern Cabernet 2021
£14.25
The wine
Deep ruby, with sweet red berries, herbaceous tobacco leaf and a hint of depth.
Cabernet in the Great Southern keeps a leafy, savoury edge that warmer Australian regions lose, which is why the region is increasingly mentioned alongside Margaret River. The area is enormous and sparsely planted, running from the coast at Albany inland to Frankland River, and its remoteness keeps volumes low. Three Lions is made by Plantagenet, whose 126 hectares were carved out of the Great Southern in Western Australia, the largest wine region in the country by area.

Three Lions
View all Three Lions winesThree Lions draws its fruit from the Great Southern, the vast and cool wine region in the far corner of Western Australia. It is one of the most exciting sources of finely balanced, aromatic wine in the country.
The region's cool nights and long ripening season give wines of freshness and clear varietal definition, and Three Lions bottles that character across a confident, well-priced range.
The Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are crisp and expressive, the Pinot Noir supple and perfumed, while the Cabernet and Shiraz bring the structure and spice that Great Southern reds do so well.
Vibrant, honest and true to their cool-climate home, these are wines of real everyday appeal. Explore the bright side of Western Australia.
