Bolgheri is the Tuscan coastal appellation created around Sassicaia, where Bordeaux varieties rather than Sangiovese make the running and the sea a few kilometres west moderates the heat. It received its DOC only in 1994, decades after the wines that made its name were being sold as humble table wine. Tenuta Meraviglia farm 30 hectares of organically certified vineyard in Bolgheri.

Tenuta Meraviglia lies on the Tuscan coast in Bolgheri, the appellation that redrew the map of Italian fine wine. Here the maritime light and gravelly soils give reds of warmth, polish and Mediterranean character.

The estate works the classic Bolgheri palette of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, joined by the sea-breeze freshness of Vermentino. Careful farming close to the Tyrrhenian gives the wines both ripeness and lift.

The Bolgheri Rosso is generous and immediately appealing, while the Maestro di Cava Bolgheri Superiore is the estate's more structured, cellar-worthy statement. Botro dei Fichi Vermentino brings a bright, saline white to the range.
