Stina Cuvée Red 2024

The wine
New: Plavac Mali, close cousin of Zinfandel and Dalmatia's proudest red grape, leads this island blend with Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah in support. An enticing fusion of ripe dark berries, plum and subtle spice, well-structured with silky tannins, harmonious balance and spice echoing on the long finish. Grilled lamb's Dalmatian destiny.
The producer
Stina
View all Stina winesStina takes its name from the famous white stone of the Croatian island of Brac, quarried here for centuries and found in buildings from Diocletian's Palace to, so the locals say, rather grander addresses abroad. The Stina project began in 2009, when Jako Andabak invested in the old cooperative cellar on the waterfront in Bol and transformed it into a strikingly contemporary winery.
The vineyards, some like Stipancic dating to the fifteenth century, cling to the island's steep southern slopes and are planted with native varieties: Pošip, Vugava and the mighty Plavac Mali.
The bottles wear minimalist, stone-white labels, and the wines inside are among the most exciting things happening in Dalmatia. Croatian wine has arrived at The Wine Depot, and it has arrived in style.
