Specogna Pinot Grigio Ramato 2025

The wine
Soft pink with copper highlights from the skin contact during fermentation. Fresh on the palate.
Ramato means coppery, and it is the traditional Friulian way with Pinot Grigio: the grape has pink-grey skins, and leaving the juice in contact with them draws exactly that colour. It was the normal style here long before the pale international version existed. Specogna farm organically in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, where the vineyards sit in a natural amphitheatre, worked by Michele and Cristian Specogna.
The producer
Specogna
View all Specogna winesSpecogna is a respected family estate in the Colli Orientali of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, north-eastern Italy famed white-wine region. The family crafts pure, characterful wines that showcase the area native grapes and distinctive terroir.
The vineyards lie on the marl-and-sandstone soils known as ponca, ideal for aromatic, textural whites. Careful farming and thoughtful winemaking, including skin-contact and barrel-ageing where fitting, bring depth and personality to each wine.
The range spans crisp Friulano, the traditional copper-hued Pinot Grigio Ramato, juicy Refosco, and the ambitious Riserva and Identita bottlings that show the estate at its most serious.
Pure, textural and full of character, Specogna captures the distinctive charm of Friulian wine.
