Sollazzo Rosso d’Italia 2025
£7.95
The wine
An interesting blend with notes of crunchy red fruit and blackberry, perfectly balanced in this fruit-laden, easy-drinking wine which finishes on a spicy note. Sangiovese leads, with Montepulciano and Longanesi filling it out.
A blend across regions under the Vino d'Italia designation, which permits fruit from anywhere in the country. Longanesi is the interesting inclusion: a Romagnolo variety found growing wild on a farmhouse wall in the 1950s, propagated by the family who found it, and now grown by a handful of producers.

Sollazzo
View all Sollazzo winesSollazzo is a range of everyday Italian wines carrying the broad Vino d'Italia designation, which allows fruit to be drawn from anywhere in the country and blended without regard to regional boundaries.
That designation is often treated as a mark of anonymity, and for most wines it is. It also gives the winemaker complete freedom: there are no rules about which grapes may be used or in what proportion, which is why several of Italy's most celebrated wines began life under a similar catch-all label before the appellation system caught up with them.
These are wines made for the table and priced accordingly. The name means amusement or diversion in Italian, which is a fair statement of intent.
