Seghesio Old Vines Sonoma County Zinfandel 2023
£42.25
The wine
Deep aromatics of black plum, fig and baking spices, opening on the palate with roasted figs.
The Old Vines bottling draws on plantings that in places predate Prohibition. Almost all of California old field-blend vineyards were grubbed up during and after Prohibition, so the survivors are irreplaceable. Seghesio was founded in Sonoma in 1895 and the family name became one of the most respected in the county, built on old-vine Zinfandel from plantings that predate Prohibition.
