Sattlerhof Südsteiermark Sauvignon Blanc 2024
£22.45
The wine
Pale lemon, opening on white pear, elderflower and yellow bell pepper.
The Südsteiermark, southern Styria, runs along the Slovenian border on slopes reaching 25 to 70 per cent gradient, and it produces Austria most highly regarded Sauvignon Blanc. The style sits between the Loire and Marlborough: herbal and mineral rather than pungent, with an alpine sharpness. The Sattler family have made wine at Gamlitz in the Südsteiermark for generations, on slopes so steep that most of the work is done by hand.

View all Sattlerhof winesSattlerhof is one of the leading estates of Südsteiermark, the beautiful, steeply terraced wine region of southern Styria in Austria. The Sattler family are acknowledged masters of Sauvignon Blanc, crafting wines of remarkable precision and mineral drive.
The vineyards cling to dramatic slopes of limestone and slate, where cool nights and a long growing season give the wines their electric freshness, aromatic purity and profound minerality. Farming is meticulous and the winemaking gentle and precise.
The range runs from vibrant regional and village Sauvignon Blanc to the profound single-vineyard Ried bottlings and characterful Styrian white blends, each a study in tension and detail.
Precise, mineral and utterly distinctive, Sattlerhof makes some of the finest Sauvignon Blanc in Europe, worlds away from the everyday.
