Rare Champagne Rosé Millésime 2014
£283.95
The wine
Strong aromas of red and dark fruits: strawberry, black cherry and blackberry.
Rosé Champagne is usually made by blending a little red wine into the base before the second fermentation, which gives far more control over colour than brief skin contact would. Rare is declared only in years judged exceptional, and each release spends many years on lees before disgorgement. Rare Champagne began as a single cuvée made for the 1976 vintage and became its own house in 2018, with Régis Camus, long the chef de cave at Piper-Heidsieck, as its guardian.
