Quinta dos Carvalhais Dão Touriga Nacional 2022
£21.45
The wine
Ruby red, with intense ripe blackberry and black cherry married to floral and herbal notes. Elegant and balanced.
Touriga Nacional is Portugal most prized red grape, better known as a port variety but increasingly bottled dry. It gives deep colour, firm tannin and a distinctive violet perfume. The Dão is a granite plateau ringed by mountains that shelter it from both Atlantic rain and continental heat, and its wines are the most elegant and structured in Portugal, often compared to Burgundy in shape if not in flavour.
