Quinta dos Carvalhais Dão Encruzado 2024
£20.95
The wine
Citrus yellow, opening on peach, nectarine, orange blossom and fresh cedar. Barrel ageing shapes the palate.
Encruzado is the great white grape of the Dão, unusual among Portuguese whites for having enough weight and acidity to handle oak and to age. Quinta dos Carvalhais lies in the Dão, and the estate has led the replanting of near-extinct local varieties, Encruzado among them, now regarded as one of the finest white grapes in Portugal.
