The wine

Deep red. An elegant nose blending ripe dark fruits with a hint of earthiness.

Chianti Superiore requires lower yields and longer ageing than straight Chianti, and it may come from anywhere in the wider Chianti zone rather than the Classico heartland. Poggiotondo is Alberto Antonini estate at Cerreto Guidi in Tuscany, certified organic since 2014, working with concrete tanks and untoasted oak so the fruit is not overlaid with wood flavour.

Poggiotondo is an organic family estate in the hills of Tuscany, where the Antonini family farm Sangiovese and native varieties with a deep respect for the land. Their wines are honest, characterful and genuinely reflective of their Tuscan home.

Farmed organically on fossil-rich soils, the vineyards yield fresh, savoury fruit that speaks clearly of place. Winemaking is gentle and traditional, aiming for purity, drinkability and true Sangiovese character.

The range runs from bright, organic Chianti and Chianti Superiore to the structured Chianti Classico and the old-vine Riserva bottlings, alongside crisp Vermentino and delicate Rosato from shell-rich Conchiglie soils.
