Plantagenet Angevin Mount Barker Riesling 2024
£16.95
The wine
Pale straw, with intense floral and lime notes. The palate is piercingly focused.
Mount Barker Riesling is among the best in Australia and far less known than the Clare or Eden Valleys, which is much of why it remains sensibly priced. The long, cool ripening season of the Great Southern holds acidity through to picking, and wines like this age for a decade or more. Plantagenet was the first winery in the Great Southern, founded at Mount Barker in 1968, and works 126 hectares south and west of the town on gravelly loam.
