Pilzer Grappa di Pinot Nero (50cl)
£33.25
The wine
Rich berry fruit aromas with a herbaceous edge, and similar flavours on the palate. Long.
Grappa from Pinot Nero pomace, grown on the hill of Lavis. Red pomace has already fermented on its skins before pressing, which gives a different character from the white grappe distilled from unfermented material. Grappa is distilled from pomace, the skins and pips left after pressing, rather than from wine, and the quality depends almost entirely on how fresh that pomace is when it reaches the still. Distilling one variety at a time, rather than blending whatever arrives, is what separates a serious producer from the rest.

View all Pilzer winesPilzer is a small, family-run mountain distillery in the Val di Cembra of Trentino, crafting some of Italy most refined grappa. Three generations have distilled here, high in the Dolomite foothills, with a purist devotion to their alpine craft.
Working with fresh grape pomace from local Trentino varieties, the family distils in small batches using traditional methods, capturing the delicate aromatics of each grape. Pure mountain water and patient artistry define the house style.
The range showcases single-variety grappe from Nosiola, Moscato Giallo, Pinot Nero and Traminer, each fragrant and remarkably smooth, alongside the aromatic, botanical Ginpilz alpine gin.
Elegant, clean and beautifully perfumed, Pilzer spirits are a distillery of real distinction, the perfect refined conclusion to a fine meal.
