The wine
Brilliant, intense ruby red, with black cherries, blackberries and red plum alongside pepper and sweet spice.
Amarone is made from grapes dried for months before pressing, losing around 40% of their weight to evaporation, which concentrates everything left behind. Vigna Garzon is a single vineyard. Pieropan farm 60 hectares on the stony hills of Soave Classico and 20 in Valpolicella, and in the early 1930s were the first to bottle Soave under their own name. The drying lofts are where Valpolicella most distinctive wines are really made.
