Pieropan La Rocca Soave Classico 2024
£32.75
The wine
Golden yellow, with intense, concentrated perfumes that follow through to the palate. Nuts and exotic fruits on the nose.
La Rocca is Pieropan single-vineyard Soave from limestone rather than the volcanic basalt of the rest of the zone, which is why it comes out broader and richer than its siblings. It is fermented and aged in large oak, unusual for Soave and the reason it can age for a decade or more. Pieropan farm 60 hectares on the stony hills of Soave Classico and 20 in Valpolicella, and in the early 1930s were the first to bottle Soave under their own name.

From the pure, benchmark Soave Classico to the profound single-vineyard La Rocca and Calvarino, the sublime Le Colombare Recioto and rare library Collezione releases, the range is a masterclass in Garganega.
Elegant, mineral and remarkably long-lived, Pieropan wines are the definitive statement of Soave, a true Italian classic.
