Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi Mercurey Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2024

The wine
Vieilles Vignes denotes the domaine oldest parcels in Mercurey, where it holds 72 hectares and is much the largest owner in the appellation.
The term has no legal definition in France, so it rests entirely on the grower honesty, but older vines genuinely yield less and root deeper, which concentrates the fruit. Mercurey is the principal red village of the Côte Chalonnaise, on the same limestone as the Côte d Or to the north. Cold soaked before a temperature-controlled fermentation with regular pumping over.

Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi
View all Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi winesDomaine du Château Philippe le Hardi is one of Burgundy largest single estates, centred on a historic château in the Côte Chalonnaise. Named for the medieval Duke Philip the Bold, who championed Pinot Noir, it farms an impressive spread from Mercurey to the grand crus of the Côte d'Or. Few domaines offer such range.
The estate farms sustainably across a mosaic of terroirs, vinifying each with care and well-judged oak. From everyday Bourgogne to grand cru, the wines share a house signature of balance, freshness, and polish. There is real quality at every level.
The range spans crisp Chalonnaise whites, characterful Mercurey reds, and a fine selection of Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune crus. Each traces the character of its appellation with confidence.
To pour a Philippe le Hardi wine is to taste the breadth of Burgundy from a single, storied estate. Polished, balanced, and dependable, these are wines for every table.
