The wine
Flowers and tropical fruits on the nose. Light and clean, with ripe apricot and white peach.
Pinot Grigio in Mendoza depends entirely on altitude: at nearly 1,000 metres the nights are cold enough to hold the acidity the variety loses so easily in warmth. Pacheco Pereda farm organically at Luján de Cuyo, split between Finca Alto Agrelo at 980 to 1,200 metres and lower sites, and the wines are Fairtrade certified. Fairtrade certification is unusual in wine and means a premium is paid into a fund controlled by the workforce rather than the estate.
The producer
Pacheco Pereda
View all Pacheco Pereda winesPacheco Pereda is a family winery in Argentina Uco Valley, farming with a genuine conscience. Certified organic and Fairtrade, the estate has built its reputation on wines that are honest, expressive and ethically made, giving back to the community that tends the vines.
High in the foothills of the Andes, the vineyards benefit from cool nights, intense sunlight and poor, stony soils that concentrate flavour and preserve freshness. Farming is chemical-free and hands-on, with a clear focus on healthy soils and vibrant, characterful fruit.
The range moves from bright, everyday organic Pinot Grigio and Malbec to the more ambitious Estirpe cuvees of Chardonnay, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, culminating in the concentrated, single-estate Linaje Malbec. Each wine speaks clearly of high-altitude Mendoza.
Fresh, pure and thoroughly modern, Pacheco Pereda offers real substance and a real story, wines to enjoy with a clear conscience and genuine pleasure.
