Orben work Rioja Alavesa, the highest and coolest part of the region, on chalk-clay under the shelter of the Sierra Cantabria. The Atlantic influence reaching in from the north-west is what keeps the freshness here, and the estate makes a modern style built on fruit and single vineyards rather than on the long years in American oak that once defined Rioja.

Orben is a modern Rioja estate crafting concentrated, elegant reds from the cooler, high vineyards of Rioja Alavesa. Part of the respected Artevino group, it has earned acclaim for a contemporary, terroir-focused expression of Tempranillo.

The estate farms old, low-yielding vines on poor, calcareous-clay soils at altitude, where cool nights preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. Careful selection and ageing in fine French oak shape wines that balance power with polish.

Orben's flagship Rioja is a beautifully judged, single-estate red, layering ripe black fruit, cocoa and fine oak spice over velvety tannins. Concentrated yet refined, it is built to reward time in the cellar.
