Domaine Ogereau Clos des Bonnes Blanches Anjou 2024

The wine
An exceptionally elegant single-vineyard Chenin. Juicy white peach and honeysuckle on the nose.
Clos des Bonnes Blanches is a walled single vineyard, and clos in French denotes exactly that: a parcel enclosed by walls, usually because someone long ago judged it worth the expense. Chenin Blanc is the great white grape of Anjou and one of the most versatile in the world, capable of everything from bone dry to intensely sweet, and it keeps a searing acidity whatever the ripeness. Its Anjou home is schist and volcanic rock rather than the limestone of the eastern Loire. Domaine Ogereau is at Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay in the Anjou, where Emmanuel Ogereau has led the conversion to organic certification in 2019 and on to biodynamics.

Domaine Ogereau
View all Domaine Ogereau winesIn Anjou, in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine Ogereau is a byword for great Chenin Blanc. A family estate spanning generations, it farms schist and volcanic soils that give the wines their distinctive energy. Ogereau sits among the region most respected growers.
The domaine works organically, tending old vines with real devotion. In the cellar, restraint and patience allow the Chenin to express its full range, from taut and mineral to rich and textured. Everything is built around purity of place.
The range spans dry Anjou and Savennières whites, along with an elegant sparkling Crémant de Loire. Each bottling shows the depth and tension that make Loire Chenin so thrilling. These are wines of real character.
To pour an Ogereau wine is to taste the Loire at its most serious. Mineral, ageworthy, and quietly profound, they reward those who love Chenin Blanc in all its glory.
