Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2023
£18.25
The wine
From vineyards beneath the granite cliffs that give it its name. A Shiraz of great intensity, purity and finesse, with black and red berried fruits, vanilla, tar and baking spice through to a silky palate with a touch of mocha. Serious Grampians Shiraz that regularly embarrasses wines twice the price.

Mount Langi Ghiran
View all Mount Langi Ghiran winesMount Langi Ghiran, Aboriginal for home of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo, sits beneath the dramatic granite of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria's Grampians. Vines were first planted here in the late 1800s, but the modern story began in 1969 when the Fratin brothers replanted the vineyards.
In 1980 the talented consultant Trevor Mast joined them, purchasing the property six years later. Trevor pioneered Australia's cool-climate Shiraz style, and with it created one of the country's most iconic wines: the Langi Shiraz, spicy, peppery and profound, a counterpoint to everything big and jammy.
Since 2018 the head winemaker has been Adam Louder, once a cellar hand under Mast himself, who crafts wines of elegance and finesse, the epitome of cool-climate Shiraz. The estate is farmed sustainably as a member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
From the friendly Billi Billi to Cliff Edge, Talus, the Mast tribute bottling and the great Langi itself, of which we hold a run of vintages back to 1999, this is a house every Shiraz lover should know.
